Strawberry Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries, thawed
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    few drops red food coloring (optional)
    2 slightly beaten eggs
    2 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp. salt
    4 slices bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (4 c.)
Preparation
    In small pan, combine undrained strawberries and cornstarch. Cook and stir over medium heat, until mixture thickens and bubbles. Stir in food coloring.
    Spread evenly over bottom of 10 x 6 x 2-inch baking dish.
    In mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, butter, vanilla and salt.
    Add bread cubes.
    Stir to moisten.
    Carefully pour custard mixture over berries.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 55 minutes.
    Serve warm with cream, if desired. Serves 6.
