Broccoli Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. grated onion
    1/2 c. butter or oleo, melted
    1/4 c. flour
    1 c. milk
    1 c. half and half
    2 c. chicken broth (I usually use 2 c. water with 2 chicken bouillon cubes dissolved in it)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1/2 tsp. dried basil
    3 c. chopped fresh broccoli
Preparation
    Saute onions in butter in a Dutch oven.
    Add flour, stirring until smooth.
    Cook one minute, stirring.
    Gradually add milk and broth, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
    Stir in salt, garlic powder and basil.
    Add broccoli.
    Cover and cook over medium heat until broccoli is tender.
    A family favorite.
