Rice With Mushrooms And Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. wild rice
    1 c. long grain rice
    1 yellow onion, diced
    2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
    pepper
    2 lb. root vegetables, cut into 1-inch cubes*
    1 medium onion, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch wedges
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 Tbsp. chopped fresh thyme, sage, rosemary or herbs of choice or 1 tsp. dried
    salt and freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
    *Scrubbed red-skinned potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips or carrots and/or peeled rutabagas or sweet parsnips.
