Corn Pone(A Favorite Recipe From My Grandmother, Emma Mitchell) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted cornmeal (water, ground, white)
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    3 c. boiling water
    1/2 stick butter
    3 well beaten eggs
    1 1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Butter a square pan or an iron skillet.
    Mix cornmeal sugar and salt together.
    Cut butter into 4 to 5 pieces and add to dry mixture.
    Slowly pour 1 cup of boiling water over the dry mixture, stirring very slowly.
    Add the second cup of water and let it cook the dry mixture as you stir slowly.
    Pour the third cup over the same way.
