Woodward House Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 sticks butter, room temperature
    1/2 c. granulated sugar plus 1 Tbsp.
    2 c. flour
Preparation
    Mix butter with hands; add sugar.
    Add 1 cup flour and blend; add another cup flour.
    Work until stiff.
    Add to 11 x 8-inch pan, ungreased.
    Press flat and fork over all of it (you can use a Springerle pin and roll out first).
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Cut immediately into small squares.
    Do not brown!
