Ingredients

1 c. margarine
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 1/4 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water
Preparation

Cream margarine and sugar. Add egg yolks, vanilla, soda, salt and water. Sift in flour. Add buttermilk. Beat egg whites until stiff. Beat into mixture. Bake in three 9-inch layer pans at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes. Turn out. Let cool.
