German Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
1 c. buttermilk
4 eggs, separated
2 1/2 c. flour
1 pkg. German chocolate (sweet)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
Preparation

Dissolve chocolate in 1/2 cup of boiling water.
Set aside to cool.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Cream the egg yolk, sugar and Crisco.
Add alternately 3/4 cup of buttermilk and flour. Dissolve soda in 1/4 cup of buttermilk.
Add to batter plus salt, vanilla and chocolate.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven. Makes 3 nice size layers.
