Daintie Meringue Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
    2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
    1 c. walnuts, chopped
    1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
Preparation
    Cream butter and blend in sugar, egg and egg yolk.
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add to the butter mixture.
    Pat dough into a 10 x 10-inch baking pan.
    Beat brown sugar into beaten egg whites.
    Fold in chocolate bits and nuts. Spread on dough in pan.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 35 minutes.
    Cut into squares while warm.
