Ingredients

2 c. shortening
1 c. powdered sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. cream of tartar
4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream shortening, butter and sugar.
Add eggs and beat well. Add remaining ingredients.
Form small balls and push down flat with bottom of glass, dipped in water.
Sprinkle with sugar and bake at 350\u00b0 for 5 to 7 minutes.
