Chocolate Medallion Cupcakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/4 c. vegetable shortening
    2 c. sugar
    2 eggs (unbeaten)
    2 c. sifted cake flour
    1/8 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. Hershey's cocoa
    3/4 c. boiling water
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Cream butter and shortening together; add sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well each time.
    Sift flour and salt together; set aside.
    Make a smooth paste of the cocoa and boiling water; cool slightly.
    Stir baking soda into buttermilk and add alternately with sifted flour to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
    Add cocoa-water mixture and blend well.
    Blend in vanilla.
    Bake 15 minutes in cupcake tins.
