Congo Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. (2 1/4 c.) brown sugar
    2/3 c. melted margarine
    3 eggs
    2 3/4 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chocolate chips
    1/2 c. nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Mix ingredients in order given; mix well after each egg addition.
    Spread into greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
    (Do not overbake; this has a brownie texture.) Cool in pan; cut into bars or squares.
    Yields six dozen.
    (There is no liquid other than the eggs and melted margarine.)
