Cucumber Stick Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. very large cucumbers
    2 gal. water
    2 c. household lime
    3 oz. alum
    1 1/2 gal. water
    6 lb. (12 c.) sugar
    3 Tbsp. pickling spice
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    red or green food coloring
Preparation
    1st Day:
    Peel and cut cucumbers into strips, removing seed section.
    Soak 24 hours in 2 gallons of water with 2 cups lime.
