Cottage Potatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. hash brown potatoes, slightly thawed
    1/2 c. melted butter
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 can cream of mushroom or chicken soup
    2 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients except potatoes.
    Pour over potatoes and mix lightly.
    Put in greased 3-quart casserole dish.
    Top with 2 cups crushed potato chips and 1/4 cup melted oleo.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes.
