Festive Fruit Compote - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can (17 oz.) pear halves
    1 can (30 oz.) apricot halves
    1 can (17 oz.) purple plums, drained
    1 tsp. grated lemon peel
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 cinnamon stick (optional)
    1/3 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
Preparation
    Drain pears, reserving 1/2 c. syrup.
    Drain apricot syrup into large sauce pan; add pear syrup.
    Stir in sugar, lemon peel, juice and cinnamon stick.
    Bring to a boil; simmer gently for 5 mintues. Add pears, apricots and plums; heat throughly.
    Serve compote warm or chilled.
    Serves 8.
