Fudge Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    3 oz. unsweetened chocolate
    2/3 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients, except vanilla, in a 2 1/2-quart saucepan.
    Heat to rolling boil, stirring occasionally.
    Boil for 1 minute without stirring.
    Place pan of frosting in bowl of ice and water.
    Beat frosting until smooth and of spreading consistency.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Frosts two 8 or 9-inch layer pans or 13 x 9-inch cake.
