Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head lettuce, torn into bits
    2 shredded carrots
    1 chopped bell pepper
    1 large onion, thinly sliced
    1 pkg. frozen raw green peas
    mayonnaise
    1/4 lb. shredded cheese
    5 slices bacon, fried and crumbled or 1 (3 1/2 oz.) jar bacon bits
    1 1/2 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    Layer in this order:
    lettuce, carrots, bell pepper, onion and peas.
    Sprinkle with sugar.
    Add 1-inch layer of mayonnaise, cheese and bacon bits.
    Seal and store in refrigerator for 24 hours.
    Toss before serving.
