Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. brown lentils
    4 c. cold water
    2 Tbsp. salt (optional)
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. butter
    1 large can crushed tomatoes (28 oz.)
    1 large onion, diced
    1 Tbsp. dill seed or 2 Tbsp. fresh dill
    2 cloves garlic, crushed (more garlic if you like garlic)
Preparation
    Combine.
    Simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
    Serves 4 to 6.
