Egg Nog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    6 egg yolks and whites
    1/2 tsp. salt
    12 c. milk
    6 egg whites
    1/4 c. sugar
    3 tsp. vanilla
    rum flavoring to taste
    ground cinnamon or nutmeg to taste
Preparation
    Beat 1 1/3 cups sugar into egg yolks.
    Add salt; stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to full boil.
    Continue stirring and cooking for 2 minutes.
    Cool. Beat egg whites until foamy.
    Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar, beating to soft peaks.
    Add to custard; mix thoroughly.
    Add vanilla, rum flavoring and spices.
    Add 8 cups remaining milk; chill 3 or 4 hours.
