Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, torn into pieces
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/2 c. chopped bell pepper
    1 pkg. frozen peas, cooked and drained
    1 to 1 1/4 c. mayonnaise, spread on top
    2 Tbsp. sugar, sprinkled on mayonnaise
    4 oz. grated cheese (Cheddar)
    tomatoes and eggs (if desired)
    bacon bits (put on top just before serving)
Preparation
    Put all ingredients in a bowl in layers.
    Cover in refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours.
    Will keep in refrigerator for one week.
