Tamale Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. corn meal
    1 Tbsp. fat
    2 c. tomatoes
    1 onion, chopped
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 Tbsp. chili powder
Preparation
    Make a mush by stirring the corn meal and 1 1/2 tablespoons salt into boiling water. Cook 45 minutes. Brown onion in fat. Add the meat and stir until the red color disappears, if meat is raw. Add salt, pepper and tomatoes.
    A chopped sweet pepper may be used, if wanted.
    Grease baking dish.
    Put in layer of corn meal mush.
    Add seasoned meat and cover with mush.
    Bake 1/2 hour in a 350\u00b0 oven.
