Crisp Sweet Pickles(Quick) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers
    2 c. lime
    2 gal. water
    2 qt. vinegar
    9 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. whole cloves
Preparation
    Put the
    celery
    seed, salt and cloves in a bag.
    Slice medium size cucumbers in about 1/4-inch slices.
    Cover with a mixture of 2 cups lime and 2 gallons of water.
    Let stand for 24
    hours, stirring
    occasionally.
    Rinse
    cucumbers well and soak for 3 hours in clear, cold water, then drain well.
    Bring to a
    boil the vinegar, sugar and spices;
    let cool a little, then
    pour over the drained cucumbers and let stand overnight. Next morning,
    boil all
    for
    40 minutes.
    (I let them simmer after they
    come to a boil.) Pack pickles into sterilized jars and pour hot liquid over them and seal.
    Yields 7 or 8 pints.
