Black-Eyed Peas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. peas
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2-inch cube slab bacon
    1/8 tsp. black pepper
    1 small onion
    3 c. water
    3 or 4 parts okra
Preparation
    Wash peas and soak for 1 hour.
    Place meat, water, peas, salt and whole onion in a large pot.
    Cook on low heat for 1 hour or until tender.
    Remove onion; add okra and simmer 15 to 20 minutes until okra is done.
