Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 gal. medium size cucumbers
    8 medium onions
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. white sugar
    2 c. water
    3 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers.
    Do not peel.
    Slice onions. Dissolve salt in water and pour over sliced vegetables.
    Let stand 3 hours and drain.
    Combine vinegar, sugar and spices and bring to boil.
    Add drained vegetables and heat to boiling point, do not boil.
    Pack in hot jars and seal.
