Katie Gooch Wilmot'S Red Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 whole eggs
1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. cake flour
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and beat.
Add boiling water to cocoa, then add to sugar and butter mixture.
Then vanilla and flour.
Put soda in sour milk or clabber and stir well.
Add last to first mixture.
Grease and flour two round cake pans.
Use a bit of flour and cocoa so as not to leave a white crust.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from center.
Ice with a chocolate icing.
