Ingredients
-
6 to 8 medium apples (Winesap or Jonathan)
1 stick margarine
1 1/2 to 2 c. sugar
1 tsp. white vinegar
dash of salt
cinnamon and nutmeg (generous sprinkling)
small red cinnamon candies
Preparation
-
Core apples (do not peel) and cut into sixths.
In skillet, melt margarine.
Add apples, sugar, vinegar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cinnamon candies.
(Candies are for red color as well as flavor.)
Cook slowly (mostly uncovered) for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
