Icebox Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. thin sliced cucumbers
    2 qt. sliced onions
    1 c. salt
    4 c. vinegar
    8 c. sugar
    5 tsp. red pepper
Preparation
    Pour salt over cukes; cover with water.
    Soak 2 hours.
    Drain, but do not rinse.
    Boil remaining ingredients.
    Cool.
    Pour over cukes.
    Must keep in refrigerator!
