Picadilli - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pk. green tomatoes, cut fine
    1 gal. red sweet and green sweet peppers
    2 to 3 pods hot pepper
    1 c. onion, chopped fine
    2 Tbsp. pickling spices (put in spice bag and beat with a hammer)
    full strength vinegar (enough to cover; about 1/2 gal.)
    sugar to taste
    7 c. tomatoes, cut
Preparation
    Place the cut up tomatoes in an enamel pot and pour enough vinegar over them to cover. Sprinkle a heaping tablespoonful of salt over the tomatoes and let stand overnight.
