English Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 sticks margarine (Blue Bonnet or corn oil)
    3 Tbsp. water
    1 Tbsp. white Karo syrup
    1 c. pecan pieces
    3 Hershey bars
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients.
    Bring to boil (4 minutes on High in the microwave).
    Then cook for 10 to 12 minutes on High, stopping to stir every minute.
    Watch very carefully after 8 minutes!
    Test for doneness of hard candy by dropping a small dollop into cold water.
    Sugar mixture will be golden brown when done.
    Pour sugar mixture onto aluminum foil and immediately cover with the chopped pecans and then Hershey's chocolate squares. When cooled, break into pieces and store in an airtight container. Makes an excellent Christmas gift!
