Cornbread - cooking recipe

1 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk
1/4 c. shortening
Preparation

Combine dry ingredients in mixer bowl. Beat in egg, milk and shortening. Pour into 8 x 8-inch pan. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Double the recipe if you want a 9 x 13-inch pan of cornbread.
