Hot Lettuce - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 slices bacon
lettuce, chopped
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. (heaping) flour
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. vinegar
1 c. milk
Preparation

Fry or microwave bacon until crisp, then crumble.
In a saucepan or frying pan, combine the sugar, flour, salt and egg. Add vinegar, milk, bacon and one or two tablespoons bacon fat (if desired).
Cook to thicken, stirring constantly.
If too thick, add more milk.
Pour over lettuce, which has been mixed with celery and onion.
Serve at once.
