Shrimp Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. shrimp
    1 large dried onion, chopped
    1 bunch green onions, chopped
    2 medium green peppers, chopped
    1 1/2 c. celery, chopped
    1 c. parsley, chopped
    2 bay leaves
    4 cloves garlic, chopped
    4 Tbsp. shortening
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/2 c. okra (can use frozen box)
    2 (8 oz.) cans tomato paste
    1 tsp. thyme
    dash or more of cayenne pepper
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 c. chopped, smoked sausage
Preparation
    Heat cooker.
    Add shortening and flour and make a brown roux. Then add all the green ingredients; add water (2 quarts).
    You may add more water.
    Cook for 1 hour after it begins to boil.
