Beef And Barley - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. chuck roast
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 c. barley
    1 medium onion, sliced thin
    2 cans cream of mushroom soup (or tomato soup is good too)
    1 tsp. sugar
    parsley
Preparation
    Rub salt and pepper into roast.
    Place in a 13 x 9-inch pan or similar-sized wide casserole.
    Mix remaining ingredients except parsley.
    Pour around the meat and cover tightly with foil.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours or until tender.
    After 1 1/2 hours, turn meat over and add water if it seems too dry.
