Southwestern Beef Brisket - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 fresh beef brisket (3 lb.)
    1 1/4 tsp. salt, divided
    1/2 tsp. pepper, divided
    2 Tbsp. cooking oil
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 small onion, chopped
    2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
    1 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 tsp. dried oregano
    3/4 tsp. ground cumin
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/8 to 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper
    3 medium sweet red peppers, cut into strips
    1 1/2 c. sliced carrots (1-inch chunks)
Preparation
    Season beef with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
    In a Dutch oven, heat oil; brown the beef on both sides.
    Combine water, tomato sauce, onion, vinegar, chili powder, oregano, cumin, garlic powder, red pepper and remaining salt and pepper; pour over meat.
    Cover and bake at 325\u00b0 for 2 hours.
