Apple Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. shortening (scant)
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cloves
2 eggs
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. baking powder
2 1/2 c. flour (never use cake flour)
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. water or 3/4 c. if using applesauce
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 apples, diced or 1 c. applesauce

Preparation

Cream shortening and sugars.
Beat in eggs.
Add water, spices, soda, baking powder, salt and flour, then add apples or applesauce. Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 1 hour.
This is to be baked in a bread pan. Can also add 1 cup raisins or 1 cup nuts.
