Old-Fashioned Donuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. melted butter or shortening
    2 eggs
    4 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon (or more if desired)
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Beat eggs until light.
    Add sugar gradually, beating well. Blend in shortening.
    Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to sugar and eggs.
    Chill dough (2 to 3 hours) until it can be rolled and cut.
    Roll 1/4-inch thick on floured surface.
    Cut with donut cutter and fry in hot oil, a few at a time, turning once until light brown.
    Drain on paper towel.
