Civil War Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. raisins
3 apples
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 Tbsp. butter or lard
3 Tbsp. cider vinegar
2 c. water
2 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice

Preparation

Cook together apples, raisins, butter and sugars with vinegar and water.
Cool, add 4 eggs.
In another bowl, mix flour, soda, salt and spices.
Mix well and bake at 375\u00b0 until toothpick punched in center of cake comes out clean.
