Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 to 6 green tomatoes, sliced 1/2-inch thick (do not peel)
1/3 c. milk
1/2 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 beaten eggs
3/4 c. fine dry bread crumbs/corn meal
Preparation

Slice green tomatoes 1/2 inch thick (do not peel).
Dip in milk, then in plain flour mixed with salt and pepper, then in the beaten eggs, then in the bread crumbs or corn meal.
Fry over medium-low heat for 8 to 10 minutes on each side, or until brown. Use a heavy pan and 1/2 cup shortening.
Add more shortening as needed.
