Cherry Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
    1/2 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 c. cherries
    1 1/2 c. water
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Mix 1 cup of sugar, butter, flour, baking powder, salt and milk together.
    Pour into pan first.
    Boil cherries, water and sugar.
    Pour on top of batter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
