Hot Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 qt. water
    1 qt. white vinegar
    1 c. ice cream salt
    3 or 4 garlic buds (each jar)
    1 tsp. dill seed (each jar)
    1 or 2 pods hot peppers (each jar)
    1 tsp. fresh or dehydrated dill (each jar)
    fresh cucumbers
    pinch of alum (each jar)
Preparation
    Wash and drain cucumbers; slice into spears.
    In quart jar, put garlic, dil seed, pepper, alum, dill and cucumbers.
    Boil water, vinegar and salt together.
    Pour into each jar and seal.
