Peppermint Candy Canes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. peppermint extract
1 tsp. red food coloring
Preparation

Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and cream of tartar; stir until sugar dissolves.
Cook, stirring, to very hard ball stage (265\u00b0).
Remove from heat and add peppermint extract.
Divide in 1 portion; add food coloring to 1 part.
Pour out on greased platters.
When cool enough to handle, pull each part separately. Form in ropes and twist red part around white.
Cut in 8-inch lengths and form in the shape of candy canes.
Makes 10 canes.
