Red Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sour cream
    2 Tbsp. hot water
    2 eggs (unbeaten)
    2 c. sifted flour
    4 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 1/8 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Cream sugar, salt, shortening and flavoring together 3 minutes, about 450 strokes by hand.
    Add hot water.
    Beat well after adding each egg.
    Sift dry ingredients in 4 parts alternately with milk in 3 parts.
    Beat after each addition only until smooth.
    Turn into two 9-inch round pans, the bottoms of which are covered with oiled waxed paper.
    Bake in moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or until done.
    Frost with favorite icing.
