Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 oz. red food coloring
    2 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Make a paste of red food coloring and cocoa. Cream thoroughly the shortening and sugar. Add paste to that. Add buttermilk, alternately with cake flour and salt. Beat well after each addition. Then add vanilla. Put soda in vinegar. Fold soda and vinegar. Mix into batter. Bake in two 9-inch cake pans at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool and split each layer in two.
