Barbecue Sandwiches(Uses Leftover Prepared Roast.) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 1/2 to 4 c. prepared roast, cut into 1-inch thinly and diagonally sliced strips
1 c. onion, chopped
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. catsup
1/3 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 Tbsp. dry mustard or 2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
pinch of garlic powder
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. chili powder
2 to 3 Tbsp. onion powder
1/8 tsp. cloves
2 Tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 drops red cake coloring (optional, for a richer appearance)
5 to 6 hamburger buns
Preparation

Slice roast and set aside.
In a large skillet or saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender.
Stir in remaining ingredients in order as given.
Heat to boiling, then reduce heat.
Simmer, covered, for about 30 to 45 minutes.
Add beef and simmer an additional 15 minutes.
Serve on warm hamburger buns.
Yield:
5 to 6 servings.
