Australian Damper "Out-Back" Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. butter or lard
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/2 c. plain flour
    2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. baking soda
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    Beat butter and sugar until creamy; add egg and beat again. Then, add milk alternately with flour (to which salt, cream of tartar and soda have been added).
    Turn out on a well-floured board.
    Knead and shape into 2 pones and place on well-greased baking pans.
    Brush tops with melted butter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until top is browned.
