Ingredients

1 egg
2 Tbsp. shortening, melted
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Beat egg and add remaining ingredients in order given.
Beat with rotary beater.
Pour batter from pitcher or tip of spoon onto greased griddle.
Pancakes are ready to turn when they are puffed and full of bubbles, before bubbles break.
After turning, cook until golden brown.
