Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    6 large onions
    1/2 c. sweet milk
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 egg, well beaten
    1 Tbsp. melted shortening
Preparation
    Peel onions and slice 1/4 inch thick.
    Cover with ice cubes and let stand 30 minutes.
    Wipe dry.
    Separate into rings.
    Sift flour, sugar and salt together.
    Combine egg and milk, then add shortening and mix well.
    Dip onion rings in batter and fry.
