Hickory Nut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. white sugar
1 c. butter or margarine
1 c. sweet milk
3 c. cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. orange flavoring
1 c. hickory nuts
whites of 8 eggs
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.
This should be very fluffy for fine texture.
Add the dry ingredients alternating with milk all but about 1/2 cup.
Mix nuts in remaining dry ingredients and fold into batter.
Add flavoring and fold in beaten egg whites. Generously grease and flour 2 (8 1/2-inch) cake pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
Cool layers for 10 minutes.
Remove from pan.
