Joel'S Mother'S Great Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 lb. (1 stick) real butter
1 heaping tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
3 (8 oz.) boxes dates
3 slices candied pineapple
3/4 lb. candied cherries
1 1/4 c. sugar
5 eggs
juice of 1 large lemon
1/4 tsp. salt
8 c. chopped pecans (may use 6 c.)
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar; add beaten egg yolks, then sifted flour with dry ingredients.
Add vanilla and lemon juice.
Dredge chopped pineapple (not in small pieces) and cherries (cut up in large pieces, if cut at all).
Add with nuts.
Lastly, add beaten egg whites.
Put in normally large tube pan (greased, waxed paper in bottom).
Bake 3 hours at 250\u00b0.
Freezes well.
