Orange Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. nut meats
1 pkg. dates
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
grated orange rind
2 large oranges
1 c. sugar

Preparation

Mix dry ingredients.
Mix Crisco, 1 cup sugar and eggs.
Add soda to buttermilk; stir until foaming.
Add the buttermilk with the dry ingredients to the Crisco mix.
Add dates, orange rind and nuts.
Bake in greased and floured pan in moderate oven (375\u00b0) for 45 to 50 minutes.
