Buttermilk Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast
    1/2 c. lukewarm water
    4 to 5 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/4 c. shortening or oil
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 egg
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in warm water, set aside.
    Heat buttermilk to lukewarm; then add shortening (oil) and sugar.
    Add dissolved yeast to this and add egg and 1 cup flour with soda and salt. Beat firmly.
    Add remaining flour until dough is soft.
    Place dough in warm place and let rise until doubled.
    Roll out dough and cut with biscuit cutter.
    Place rolls on greased cookie sheet and let rise in pans.
    Bake rolls at 400\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
    Butter tops of rolls when coming out of the oven.
    Yields 2 dozen (1 pan).
